Lab2Market Validate Foundations Pacific, Fall 2026

L2M Validate Foundations is a free three-day online training program aimed at providing researchers (faculty, students, recent graduates) with a comprehensive understanding of the process and best practices for taking research from lab to market.

Eligibility

L2M Validate Foundations Pacific, fall 2026 is open to researchers (undergraduates, master's students, PhD candidates, and postdocs) from universities and colleges across Canada who are interested in exploring research commercialization and entrepreneurship. No prior experience in entrepreneurship or commercialization is required.

Program Overview:

  • Regional program: Delivered by Innovation UBC, in partnership with SFU VentureLabs, as part of the L2M Pacific Hub.

  • Develop your skills: For graduate researchers across Canada seeking a comprehensive understanding of taking research from lab to market. Participants will learn how to identify real-world problems, develop customer discovery skills, test assumptions, and explore potential applications of their work. Upon completion, participants will possess the knowledge to strategically position their projects to capitalize on opportunities like Lab2Market's Validate program, Innovation UBC's Venture Founder accelerator, and public innovation grants.

  • Explore commercialization: Learn how to take the first steps and understand the commercial potential of your work from seasoned entrepreneurs and principal investigator-entrepreneurs.

  • Commitment: 2-hour live virtual sessions across 3 days (6 hours total)

  • Cost-free enrolment: Offered at no cost to participants

  • Format: Online

  • Program dates:  September 8, 9, and 10, 2026

  • Application deadline: Friday, September 4, 2026
