Ready to jump-start your entrepreneurial journey? Applications are open for Lab2Market Pacific Hub’s Validate Foundations and Validate programs! Take the first steps toward commercializing your research and gain the support, mentorship and training you need to succeed.

Lab2Market is a suite of programs that helps foster innovation and commercial success in Canada by helping you unlock the market potential of your ideas. Innovation UBC, in partnership with SFU VentureLabs, forms the Pacific Hub for Lab2Market serving researchers across BC and the Yukon. 

This summer, we are recruiting for Lab2Market Validate Foundations (Fall 2025) and Validate (Winter 2026) cohorts. We are looking for motivated researchers ready to take their research to the next level.

About the programs

Lab2Market Validate Foundations

For researchers and faculty across all disciplines ready to take the first step.

Lab2Market Validate Foundations is a three-day intensive virtual training program aimed at providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the process and best practices for research commercialization. The program is designed for individuals at the outset of their journeys who wish to understand the first steps required for commercialization.

Who’s eligible to apply?

  • For certificate and diploma students, undergraduates, masters, PhDs, postdocs and faculty from any faculty or discipline, at any university or college in BC or the Yukon

Program dates: September 15, 17 and 19, 2025

Lab2Market Validate

For students, faculty and postdoctoral fellows who’ve identified a market opportunity and are ready to validate their business idea.

Lab2Market Validate gives researchers the opportunity to critically test and evaluate their ideas in the entrepreneurial landscape. The program takes participants through the process of unlocking the business potential of a research idea – from meeting customers, building a network, and most importantly, developing entrepreneurial grit.

This is your opportunity to explore commercialization and receive $10,000 to work full-time on your research for 4 months, validating demand and building traction by engaging directly with your target customers.

Who's eligible to apply?

  • Academic entrepreneurs who have already identified a market opportunity and are ready to validate their business idea
  • Open to research teams composed of a graduate student (masters, Ph.D. or post-doc) and the principal investigator (PI) from any faculty or discipline, at any university or college in BC or the Yukon

Deadline to apply: September 26, 2025
