A key form of innovation at UBC is the process through which bold thinking and research discoveries create positive social or economic impacts.
These impacts may be in the form of new products, services and companies; improved health outcomes; or contributions to public debate, culture and policy.
The Innovation UBC network helps transform research and entrepreneurial drive into new products, policies and practices that improve lives around the world. It fosters innovation through multiple pathways, including research partnerships, commercialization, knowledge exchange, entrepreneurship and support through dedicated innovation development officers. UBC boasts 1,300+ industry collaborations annually; 1,000 new student ventures and spin-off companies; and has played a key role in advancing technology, natural resources, and life sciences sectors.
In order to increase and simplify access to this network, UBC has created two new innovation hubs at Robson Square in Vancouver and in downtown Kelowna.
