Arca
UBC Faculty of Science, Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences

Arca is a UBC spin-off company transforming how the world tackles climate change through carbon mineralization. Founded by UBC geoscientists, Arca has developed pioneering technology that accelerates the natural process of storing atmospheric CO2 in rock by repurposing alkaline waste from mines and heavy industry. Their solution safely and permanently removes carbon from the air at gigatonne scale without requiring new land or water resources. With support from Innovation UBC and backing from major climate and innovation funders, Arca is turning scientific discovery into industrial-scale impact. Their breakthrough platform not only drives revenue from waste but supports global net-zero goals, offering a bold path forward for decarbonizing the planet.
