Innovation UBC is excited to announce the 6th annual Immersion Week, September 23 and 24 at UBC Robson Square, featuring storytellers and movement builders who will share their perspectives and journey creating impact.
The two day event convenes academia, startups, investors, government and the wider community to explore a range of globally relevant themes that entrepreneurs and researchers are poised to solve (or are solving).
This year’s theme: AI & Security.
Bringing together problem solvers from across the university and beyond, this event gathers leading experts on AI and security to explore its applications, implications, and the urgent questions we must address as a society. Topics include how AI is transforming teaching and learning, regulation and strategic policy, AI & Health and Climate, Indigenous perspectives, IP sovereignty and economic resilience, deep dive roundtables on investing and funding AI solutions, and more.
Fostering connections and sparking collaboration
Since its inception in 2020 during the pandemic, Immersion Week has welcomed thousands of attendees, bridging gaps and creating opportunities for cross-network connections and collaborations to spark.
"Immersion Week began as a way to foster connections across our community at a time when few existed. Each year, we spotlight the pressing themes our research and entrepreneurial community is tackling, bringing together leading experts and contributors to generate meaningful conversations and inspire action.”
- Michelle Sklar, Head of Marketing and Communications, Innovation UBC
Attendees frequently remark on the inspiring nature of the event and being able to connect directly with innovators and experts across the wider ecosystem. Expect a range of activities varying from panels and keynotes to roundtables and networking socials all centered on AI and security.
“UBC is home to some of the world’s leading researchers and thinkers. Events like Immersion Week nurture the natural curiosity engrained in our university environment, connecting with the wider innovation ecosystem to generate positive outcomes across sectors and fields.”
- Dr. Sean Lumb, Innovation UBC Associate Director, entrepreneurship@UBC
