UBC Day is a collaboration among Innovation UBC, School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME), the Faculty of Medicine, Canada’s Immuno-Engineering and Biomanufacturing Hub (CIEBH) and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Held at UBC Vancouver to coincide with the LSBC Invest in BC conference, this invite-only morning event is designed for industry leaders, investors, and innovation partners seeking high-impact collaboration opportunities in biomedical engineering and the life sciences. 

Attendees will hear short, focused presentations from UBC faculty whose research is at the forefront of translation and commercialization.

From Lab to Market: Tours and Venture Connections 

Hosted by Innovation UBC

Thursday, October 30 | 11:00 - 2:00 PM | The Graham Lee Innovation Centre | UBC Vancouver

This invite-only mid-day event is designed for industry leaders, investors, and innovation partners seeking high-impact collaboration opportunities across UBC’s life sciences community. 

Attendees will be able to join tours in small groups, with short presentations from distinguished researchers about innovations they are working on in their labs. Following the tours, guests are invited back to the Graham Lee Innovation Centre in the lower level of the Alumni Centre for a light lunch and to meet some of our up and coming Life Sciences ventures.

  3. Pharmaceutical Sciences Building with Dr. Colin Ross (Genome Editing), Dr. Joel A. Finbloom (antibiotic resistant bacterial infections), Dr. Shyh-Dar Li (needle-free drug delivery) and Dr. Miffy Hok Yan Cheng (Next Gen nanomedicines)

*Tours will run about 20 minutes each and will include up to 15 people per group, rotating through each lab

UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences conducts innovative and ground-breaking research that spans the complete therapeutic journey of medicines: from drug development to population-wide epidemiological studies of drug effectiveness, drug safety, and pharmacy practice. Our Innovation Day tours will highlight recent advances in the development of precision medicines: developing the next generation of nanomedicines (Miffy Cheng), treating neurodegenerative and other genetic diseases with genome editing (Colin Ross), developing needle-free drug delivery systems (Shyh-dar Li), and designing smart nanomaterials to treat antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections (Joel Finbloom).
