Through their venture-building programs, entrepreneurship@UBC provides UBC innovators with the industry expertise, practical business training and mentorship to develop their discoveries into viable ventures that yield social and economic impacts.

entrepreneurship@UBC, which transitioned all of its programming to an online format in mid-March, recently announced the new ventures joining their Social Venture, Lab2Launch and Core Technology incubator programs.

Social Venture Incubator program

entrepreneurship@UBC’s Social Venture Incubator program backs UBC founders with solutions to some of the world’s most prolific social, environmental and economic problems. Cultivating social ventures from ideation to market, the program provides a unique opportunity for startups to create and grow their venture with impact at the helm. On May 8, entrepreneurship@UBC announced the new cohort of ventures to join the incubator program, delivered in collaboration with global incubator, accelerator and advisory firm Spring:

  • AI Forte Solutions is developing powerful digital identity and eHealth platforms for aid agencies and institutions, especially those supporting refugees and vulnerable people around the world.

Lab2Launch Incubator program

The Lab2Launch program is designed for UBC researchers and scientists who want to transform their knowledge into solving significant global problems. The innovations in this program are proprietary and difficult to reproduce, and the Lab2Launch team, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence and mentor network work with founders to identify viable and valuable business opportunities. On April 17, entrepreneurship@UBC announced a new cohort of ten ventures in the Lab2Launch program:

  • ABOenzymes is developing a product to make blood typing a thing of the past, turning all blood types into universal donor blood and eliminating the need for blood typing and blood matching.
  • Amphoraxe Life Sciences Inc. aims to replace conventional antibiotics used by farmers that can spread dangerous antibiotic resistant bacteria to humans with a new generation of products that don't cause drug resistance, increasing farmers' productivity without harming human health.
  • D.I. Self Composite Alloys Inc. will create the next breakthrough/new generation of highly optimized Alloys with custom properties that can be used virtually anywhere.
